The Iranian film "Fragrant" presented our visual effects team with the opportunity to blend cutting-edge digital techniques with the culturally-specific artistic vision of the director. Through a collaborative process, we were able to seamlessly integrate complex VFX sequences that elevated the cinematic experience.
One of the film's most compelling sequences depicts the protagonist experiencing a powerful sensory hallucination. Our artists utilized a combination of fluid simulations, dynamic particle effects, and camera distortion tools to create an immersive, dreamlike visual experience. Swirling, fragrant flower petals surrounded the actor, while the environment shimmered and distorted to convey the altered state of perception.
The film's bold, visually striking aesthetic presented unique challenges for the VFX work. Our artists collaborated closely with the cinematographer to match the moody, evocative tone through dynamic camera movements and dramatic lighting. Subtle atmospheric hues, deep shadows, and dynamic lighting shifts helped to create a heightened, almost surreal visual experience.
It is noteworthy that the movie was nominated for the Best Visual Effects Award in 41st Fajr Film Festival.
